On the last weekend of October, the CrossFit event OsloThrowdown took place in northern Europe.
The two-day event for teams and individuals in the RX, Intermediate and Scaled categories started on Friday with registration and briefing. My friend Adam Liska and I started in the RX Individual category.
Saturday started at 8:00 am. The first workout was a 10 minute- 4 rounds of fortime with cap, combining ttb, cal on bike erg and thrusters. Half of the athletes made it in time cap, including Adam, half didn't - including me :)
Second workout was gymnastic. 8 min AMRAP, UB handstandwalk, burpeeoverworm, hnadstandwalk and DU. With burpees increasing each round.
Combination very nice, but shoulders were on fire. Third and final workout of Saturday was dumbbell fortime only- 15 snatches 80/55 + 15 c&j 90/60. Unfortunately I logged 0 reps here. 55kg per snatch is heavy for me and there was no room to break records. We were done pretty early on this day, around 4 p.m.
Sunday morning started with 5 rounds for time (cap 10 min)- 14 box jump over 70cm and 7 devil press. The box height was the same for both men and women.
Second round - 3 rounds for time (cap 8 min) - chest to bar, row and sandbag carry 80/60 kg. This ended the competition in 24th place for me.
Adam made it into the top 10 to face the finals - RMU, dual DB squats, BMU, dual DB lunges.
He did his best result of the weekend in this workout, securing a great 7th place overall.
Facing such names as Victor Ljungdal, Fredrik Bengt Lindström and Stine Møller - Olsen on set was a treat and it certainly wasn't free.
The Northerners are incredibly complex athletes. They are fast, strong and gymnastically skilled. In the team category, there were CF Games names like Kristin Holte, Matilde Garnes and Maria Längfors.
Another Czech competitor was Tomáš Šleis, who did great all weekend and finished 2nd in the Masters 40+ category.
The organization of the race was great and the atmosphere was even better.
