As is already customary, the 7th edition of the team competition LIFT OFF in CrossFit MadMan took place at the end of the year.
Most of the competitors are mostly local, which adds to the quality of the competition. This year 32 teams participated in the competition. Some of the well-known names that you can see at other competitions around the Czech Republic and Europe include the Malaga champion Gabča Adamová, the grandfather of CrossFit Michal Merganič, the currently getting stronger Jura Hanák, and the still shining star Pepi Nosála, the rediscovered Klára Vejmelková, the instagram magician František Vostál or the Swiss chocolate eaters - respectively the medalists from Swiss Eva and Klára.
It's definitely not a coincidence that the World Weightlifting Championships directly follow this competition - the organizers asked us, and we didn't mind almost combining these two biggest weightlifting events.
The whole competition started with an exhibition where you could see weightlifting in masks, Hawaiian suits, tight swimsuits or a ladybug outfit. The competitors themselves were first to face the SNATCH discipline: the team had 8 minutes to both lift their maximum weight to the market (all kinds of ways allowed).
The atmosphere was downright electric, with spectators and competitors alike rejoicing at every weight lifted, and perhaps that's why PRs are raised here every year. Among the women, Gabča lifted the most - 70kg, followed by Barča Řiháčková, Klara Kantová and Klara Vejmelková with 62,5kg. Among the men, 8 athletes took the 100kg and over market, and I wonder which gym got it. Vladimir Krbusek lifted the most - 115kg, this strongman regularly takes first place in strength competitions all over the Czech Republic. A small amount less, 112,5kg was lifted by Pepa Nosál and Jiří Hanák, between whom there is a rivalry since the W101 seminar, where Pepa ran over Jura in the workout, like a train Bartošová, let her land be light. Then came the clean and jerk discipline, for which the competitors had the same 8 minutes:
Among the women the weight of 70kg and more fell 15 times. Gabcha again lifted the most at 92.5kg, so the gauntlet was thrown down for the fighters. Denča Provaznikova, injured and limping at the time, could only watch these performances from the coach's station and cheer all the more. The second highest weight was 82,5kg - Klara Kantova, 3rd 82,5kg Verča Jakusidis and 4th all the way from the far East Kristýna Bennárová 80kg together with Klara V.
Among men the weight of 100kg was surpassed 19 times (out of 29 competitors). The most resisted again Krbůšek 140kg (he also fell clean 150kg, but the jerk was already beyond his strength). 135kg was successfully registered by Nosál, Hanák and Brejch. Vostal was only 2.5kg behind, while Merganic left in tears with only 125kg. And it was on to the last discipline - the workout. 13min time cap 10x push-ups in the standing from the flat / partner hangs on the trapeze 20x toes to trapeze (or 40x high knees) / partner holds in the standing 30x synchro box jump 40x thruster 40/30kg 50x English with axis jump 50calorie ladies row (60 calorie ski-erg fighters).
And there was definitely something to play for here. Workout mixes it up a lot every year. Klara and Gabca held on to the top spot in 7:26, with Eva and Klara having the second best time, but the 3rd best time went to Alca Marcone, yes the Alca who was in the CF Games OPEN semifinals, along with Kiki from Slovakia. And it started to add up. It was also a fight to the last seconds for the fighters. The best time was 7:18 by Merganic and Nosal (of course these two were out of the competition from the beginning), where Merganic got the last remnants of strength from the old glory, Nosal gave his whole heart to it and the eyes for crying could remain for Hanák and Krbůšek, who with a huge loss of 4 seconds were only behind the fighters. Further behind them was Kosinka with Simek (the coaching duo from MadMan Otrokovice) and in 3rd place was Okánik with Fotta (yes the one who won the spring and summer Bcross).
Before the announcement of the results, there was a raffle, where the partners together with the prizes for the podium were Workout.eu, fitnessmuscle shop, avkn tape, MitteBrno, Infinit Maximus, Lanové Centrum Brno Lesná, Glenmark.sk and we would like to thank them once again.
More than 40 people were donated: Ladies.
