This year’s three-day Bohemian Throwdown competition, held May 8–10, 2026, at the winter hockey stadium in Pilsen, once again confirmed why it ranks among the best CrossFit competitions in the Czech Republic. The organization ran smoothly, the workouts were well-designed and challenging, and the competition across all categories was truly top-notch.

We received a starter pack upon registration, and refreshments—bananas, apples, and drinking water—were available to competitors in the locker rooms throughout the weekend. The organizers also thought about recovery, so for a nominal fee, you could use compression pants (which I took advantage of), get a massage, or see a physical therapist, who were available all weekend. Clean showers and restrooms were a given, which is definitely a plus at events of this caliber.
I met many of my friends here who have also been doing CrossFit for several years, and it’s always great to share experiences with them and see how far we’ve all come.
Outside the stadium, there was a food stand serving full meals tailored specifically to the needs of competitors. Every day, I refueled with the classic combo—rice, meat, and vegetables. Exactly what you need between workouts.
The warm-up area was perfectly equipped and had everything needed for a quality warm-up before each event. The workouts were mostly shorter but extremely intense. The exception was Friday’s run combined with the BikeErg, which mainly tested endurance. Otherwise, the competitions were primarily focused on strength and gymnastics.

The competitors in the Elite category deserve enormous respect. Their performances were, at times, nothing short of incredible. In the strength portion during the clean ladder (WOD 4), the top four reached the 160 kg mark, and some competitors were able to add at least three front squats with that weight. That’s exactly the moment when you get a serious reality check and realize just how much work you still have ahead of you. The competition is fierce—and that’s exactly what motivates me to work even harder.
The organization of the competition itself was a huge plus. The scoreboard with the timer, the smooth flow of the heats, and virtually no delays meant I could calmly focus on my warm-up and the performance itself without unnecessary stress.
I’m not entirely satisfied with my result, and I expected a bit more from myself, but it’s precisely these kinds of competitions that best show you where your strengths lie and what you still need to work on.
The Bohemian Throwdown once again confirmed that it is one of the highest-quality competitions in the Czech Republic. This is also evidenced by the participation of foreign athletes from Germany, Poland, Slovakia, Ukraine, Austria, Spain, Ireland, the Netherlands, and other countries. I thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere, and if the competition takes place again next year, I definitely won’t hesitate to register.
